The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has added 100 fresh council
police officers to its ranks to strengthen enforcement of by-laws and restore
order in public spaces across the capital.
According to LCC Public Relations Manager, Chola Mwamba,
the recruitment comes at a time when Lusaka’s population and business
activities continue to grow, creating greater demand for effective law
enforcement and public safety.
“The Lusaka City Council has recruited one hundred
council police officers to enhance public order, enforce by-laws and promote
safety in all public spaces. This recruitment will significantly strengthen the
Council’s capacity to serve Lusaka’s ever-growing business environment and
population,” Mwamba said.
She added that the officers will complement the existing
workforce, increase visibility in communities, and undergo mandatory training
before deployment to equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to perform
their duties effectively.
Mwamba assured residents that the new officers will serve
diligently, guided by professionalism, integrity, and respect for human rights.
She also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural
Development and other stakeholders who supported the recruitment process.
