The Government and Public Service Unions have agreed to further
adjourn salary and conditions of service negotiations for public service
employees to 15 December 2025, citing the need for continued stakeholder
consultations.
According to a joint press statement issued by Government
Team Leader Lois Mulube, and Union Team Leader Joy Beene, the negotiations initially
launched on 4 November 2025 were paused on 13 November to allow for deeper
engagement on unresolved matters.
The talks were originally scheduled to resume on 24 November,
but both parties have now agreed to extend the adjournment to mid-December.
The statement indicates that the extension is necessary to
ensure that all outstanding issues are addressed comprehensively, with input
from relevant stakeholders.
Amid growing public interest in the outcome of the
negotiations, development which are expected to shape the fiscal and welfare
landscape for thousands of public service workers across Zambia.
The statement concluded with their commitment to a constructive
and consultative process, aimed at achieving fair and sustainable outcomes for
public sector employees.
