The Workers’ Compensation Fund Control Board (WCFCB) has
signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Technical Education,
Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA) to strengthen
rehabilitation and reintegration support for injured workers.
The agreement, signed today, will enhance operations at the
WCFCB Rehabilitation Centre in Ndola, focusing on skills development,
vocational training, and socio-economic empowerment for workers recovering from
occupational injuries.
WCFCB Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Patrick
Siampwili emphasized the significance of the partnership in improving
rehabilitation services and creating pathways for injured workers to regain
independence and contribute productively to society.
“This partnership is strategic in ensuring that
rehabilitation goes beyond medical recovery. It empowers injured workers with
skills that enable them to reintegrate into the workforce and sustain their
livelihoods,” Mr. Siampwili said.
He was accompanied by Mr. Maybin Nkholomba, Director of
Compliance and Compensation Services, and Mrs. Stella Kaluba, Manager of
Occupational Health and Safety.
The collaboration is expected to Expand vocational training
opportunities for recovering workers, strengthen rehabilitation programmes at
the Ndola centre, promote entrepreneurship and self-reliance among
beneficiaries and Align rehabilitation with Zambia’s broader skills development
agenda
The MoU reflects Government’s wider push to integrate social
protection with skills training, ensuring that workers affected by workplace
injuries are not left behind in Zambia’s economic growth journey.
