The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has announced that offer
letters for 2,000 newly recruited health workers will be issued by the end of
April, marking a significant step in government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen
the health sector and expand employment opportunities.
Speaking on Radio Phoenix FM’s Let the People Talk, CSC
Chairperson Dr. Choolwe Beyani said the commission is committed to ensuring a
transparent and efficient recruitment process.
He emphasized that while government cannot employ everyone
at once, deliberate measures are being taken to increase job opportunities
across sectors, with more workers expected to be recruited in 2026.
Dr. Beyani noted progress in addressing long-standing
administrative challenges, including reducing the number of workers who had
served for extended periods without confirmation. Recruitment, he said, is
being handled in a balanced manner to accommodate both new and old graduates.
He further highlighted that government’s economic reforms,
particularly debt restructuring, have created fiscal space to support key
public services such as free education and the recruitment of teachers and
health personnel.
Since 2021, the Ministry of Health has recruited about
20,000 workers, with more opportunities being created in other sectors such as
agriculture.
Dr. Beyani advised applicants seeking confirmation of their
recruitment status to check with their respective Provincial Headquarters,
assuring citizens that as resources improve, government will continue expanding
employment opportunities nationwide.
