The Zambia Police Service has arrested five teachers at Senanga
Day Secondary School for allegedly assaulting a 15-year-old pupil.
The incident, reported on 19 March 2026, is said to have
occurred on 16 March 2026 around midday. The report was made by Mr. Lungowe
Mooka, 51, of Mwanambinyi East Plots in Chief Indopu’s area, on behalf of his
son.
The teachers named in the case are Kaitwa Kamona, 51,
Headteacher, Febian Mushoke, 49, Class Teacher, Mubiana Milale, 48, Class
Teacher, Jere Simataa, 36, Class Teacher and Masialeti Kubindwa, 42, Class
Teacher
The juvenile sustained injuries including a painful neck,
rib pain, backache, and general body pains. The assault allegedly involved the
use of fists and slaps.
Police investigations led to the arrest and formal charging
of all five suspects for Assault on a Child, contrary to Section 248A of the
Penal Code. They have since been released on police bond and are expected to
appear in court soon.
Western Division Police Command Commissioner Rae Hamoonga
strongly cautioned members of the public, especially those entrusted with the
care of children, to uphold the rights and welfare of minors.
“Any form of violence against children is a serious offence
and will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law,” he said.
