The Zambia Police Service has warned of legal action against
individuals found creating and distributing deceptive artificial intelligence
(AI)-generated content targeting senior public officers.
Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi said the
misuse of AI technology to fabricate digital content depicting acts of violence
and offensive material directed at senior officials poses risks to public
confidence, safety, and national security.
“Appropriate and decisive legal action will be taken against
any individual found to have created, distributed, or shared material intended
to mislead the public, cause alarm, or otherwise violate the law,” Chilabi
stated.
He added that police, working with other law enforcement
agencies, have intensified investigations into the creation and circulation of
such content. Members of the public have been urged to exercise caution and
responsibility when creating or sharing information on digital platforms.
