The Ministry
of Labour and Social Security has issued a firm rebuttal to
bribery allegations circulating on social media, following a video in which two
women claimed they were asked to pay for their labour complaint to be
addressed.
In an official press statement by Principal Public Relations Officer Mwaka Ndawa, said the Ministry described the claims as false and misleading, asserting that no fees are charged for lodging complaints, mediating disputes, or conducting workplace inspections.
“Such practices are non-existent, and at no point did the individuals in
question bring their complaint to the attention of authorized Labour Officers,”
the statement read.
Investigations revealed that the complainants refused to collect summons
for their employers a critical step in dispute resolution and later declined to attend a
scheduled meeting with Labour officers. The Ministry noted that
the corruption allegations were made out of frustration, not based on
actual misconduct.
The Ministry emphasized its zero-tolerance policy toward
corruption and urged the public to report any unethical conduct to its Integrity Committee,
the Anti-Corruption
Commission (ACC), or other law enforcement agencies.
“Misinformation undermines the Ministry’s integrity and erodes public
trust,” said Mwaka
Ndawa, Principal Public Relations Officer.
Citizens are encouraged to use official platforms such as ,
