Vice President Mutale Nalumango has commissioned the US$15 million
Carbon-In Pulp (CIP) Gold Processing Plant in Nangoma Constituency, Mumbwa
District, marking a significant milestone in Zambia’s mining and industrial
development agenda.
The new facility is expected to boost local gold production capacity,
enhance value addition, and create employment opportunities for communities in
the district. Officials say the plant will also contribute to foreign exchange
earnings and strengthen Zambia’s position in the regional mining sector.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Vice President Nalumango emphasized government’s commitment to supporting investments that drive economic diversification and industrial growth.
She noted that the project aligns with
the New Dawn Administration’s vision of leveraging natural resources to achieve
inclusive development.
The commissioning of the Nangoma plant adds momentum to Zambia’s broader efforts to expand its mineral processing infrastructure, reduce dependency on raw exports, and promote sustainable mining practices.
