The Kitwe City Council has suspended operations at Praise Xin Casino,
Restaurant and Guesthouse after inspectors uncovered serious public health
violations during an inspection conducted on Tuesday, 11th November 2025.
In a statement Issued by Public Relations Manager Mwaka Nakweti highlighted
that the action followed a tip-off that the establishment was discharging raw
sewage onto the road reserve. A subsequent inspection by the Council’s Public
Health Department revealed multiple breaches,
Ms. Nakweti underscored that this was due to the company Operating
without the required compliance documents, Backflow of sewage into food
preparation and dishwashing areas, Defective and exposed electrical cables
posing safety risks to employees and several other sanitary and structural
deficiencies
She issued recommendations to the proprietors, outlining corrective
measures that must be implemented immediately before operations can resume.
Ms. Nakweti further emphasized that the business had contravened
provisions of the Public Health Act (Chapter 295), the Food Safety Act No. 7 of
2019, and the Solid Waste Regulation and Management Act No. 20 of 2018, among
other regulations.
She concluded by underscoring the Local Authority’s commitment to enforcing public health standards and protecting residents from unsafe business practices.
