First Quantum Minerals (FQM) has been named Zambia’s Best Investor in Mining – 2025 at the inaugural Invest Zambia International Conference (IZIC), a recognition of its nearly 30-year commitment to the country’s mining sector and broader economic transformation. FQM’s journey began with the Bwana Mkubwa project and has since expanded to include The Trident project, The Enterprise nickel mine, the $1.25 billion S3 expansion at Kansanshi Mine, which will extend the mine’s life to 2046 and significantly boost copper output Dr. Godwin Beene, FQM Country Manager, emphasized the importance of long-term thinking and sustainable collaboration: “It’s about time we began to think of Zambia in the long term… not in two or three years, but well into the future.” Minister of Science and Technology Felix Mutati praised the private sector’s role in national development, citing ongoing policy and structural reforms to promote value addition, export growth, and macroeconomic stability.
