OVER 60,000 PUBLIC WORKERS TO UNDERGO NIPA TRAINING

More than 60,000 newly recruited public service employees in the Ministries of Education and Health are set to undergo training at the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), in a nationwide programme designed to strengthen accountability and improve service delivery.

NIPA Executive Director Prof. Jacob Malungo said the initiative is aimed at Curbing audit queries in government departments. Preventing leaks of confidential information, reducing misuse of public property and Enhancing efficiency and professionalism in both public and private sectors.

The programme will begin with the induction of 1,600 newly recruited Ministry of Health personnel from Lusaka Province, before expanding to other provinces.

Prof. Malungo added that preparations are underway to train head teachers, deputy head teachers, senior teachers, and heads of departments, ensuring that leadership positions are equipped with the necessary administrative skills.

In an interview with Zamjob News, Prof. Malungo explained that NIPA plans to train all personnel recruited from 2021 to date as part of efforts to improve performance within the public service.

In 2025, NIPA inducted 2,000 personnel, including 274 pre-deployment trainees and 400 police service in-charges.

The new programme represents the largest training initiative yet, reflecting government’s commitment to building a competent and accountable civil service.

Prof. Malungo underscored that the training push to modernize Zambia’s public service, ensuring that newly recruited workers are not only technically competent but also guided by principles of integrity, transparency, and efficiency.
