President Hakainde Hichilema, joined by Minister of Labour
and Social Security Brenda Mwika Tambatamba, MP, and other cabinet ministers,
served pupils at Kabulonga Boys Secondary School during the implementation of
the school feeding program.
Speaking at the event, President Hichilema said education is
central to Zambia’s economic push, stressing that the Government is moving
education from being viewed solely as a social sector to being recognized as
both an economic and social sector.
“We want to drive our economy like never before so that it
can grow and generate revenue for education and job creation,” he said.
The President highlighted that the mass recruitment of
teachers is unprecedented, describing it as a major milestone by the UPND
Government.
He underscored that by the end of 2026, the government will
have recruited nearly 48,000 teachers within its five‑year term.
This expansion strengthens Zambia’s education system,
creates jobs, and builds human capital for long‑term economic growth.
The school feeding program directly supports learner welfare
and productivity, ensuring pupils are healthy and able to focus on their
studies.
Large‑scale teacher recruitment contributes to employment
creation, while also improving the quality of education nationwide.
By positioning education as an economic driver, Government
is aligning human capital development with national growth strategies.
