Two civil servants have tragically lost their lives after a dugout canoe capsized on the Lutembwe River while they attempted to cross in search of mobile internet connectivity to submit monthly reports.

The Victims Teddy Sakandula 32 a Teacher at Nyachikayi Primary School and Freddy Sapilinya 31 Health worker at Nyachikayi Health Centre, under the Churches Health Association of Zambia (CHAZ).

The canoe capsized midway due to strong water currents Around 12:00 hours on a Tuesday afternoon. Nyachikayi area, west bank of Lutembwe River, about 196 km from Zambezi town,

reports are that both men drowned as they were unable to swim and Their bodies were retrieved and are awaiting transportation to Zambezi District Hospital mortuary.
