Zambia has launched its inaugural Critical Minerals Potential of Zambia guide, a landmark publication positioning the country as a strategic player in the global clean energy transition. Developed in collaboration with the British Geological Survey (BGS) and supported by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), the guide outlines Zambia’s geological wealth and investment potential across 11 critical minerals. The Guide Covers Geological insights and exploration data, Production statistics from 2019–2023, Strategic mineral zones and occurrences and Alignment with Zambia’s National Critical Minerals Strategy (2024–2028) With 11 Critical Minerals Identified. Zambia is set to open Africa’s first cobalt sulfate refinery by end of 2025 Copper production target: 3 million metric tonnes annually by 2031 and Demand for lithium and graphite expected to rise 350x and 130x respectively by 2040 UK Trade Envoy Calvin Bailey MBE MP: “This guide supports Zambia’s strategy and attracts responsible investment.” British High Commissioner Rebecca Terzeon: “A testament to UK-Zambia collaboration.” BGS Scientists Clive Mitchell & Dr. David Currie: “A tool for investors, policymakers, and communities.” The guide was officially launched at the Invest-Zambia International Conference 2025, reinforcing Zambia’s role in shaping the future of green energy supply chains and mineral-based industrialization
