The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has approved 21 energy licences and 9 construction permits valued at ZMW 4.8 billion (US$206 million), marking a major step forward in Zambia’s energy diversification and infrastructure development. The approvals span petroleum, electricity, and renewable energy sub-sectors 9 licences for renewable energy equipment manufacturing and maintenance, 4 for road transportation of petroleum products,3 for distribution, import, and export of petroleum, 2 for electricity generation and trading and 1 each for biofuel production, lubricant marketing, and petroleum wholesale. Infrastructure Projects Approved CEC: 220 kV and 66 kV transmission lines and substations in Ndola, ZESCO: 50 MW grid-scale solar PV power plant, Shibuyunji Solar Ltd: 50 MW solar PV plant, Innovent Garneton North Solar Ltd 20 MW solar PV plant, Lubambe Copper Mine Ltd: 7.2 MW diesel generator and 89 road tank vehicles, 5 LPG kiosks, and 4 new service stations Mrs. Ndmukolo Kasumpa, ERB Public Relations Manager, emphasized the regulator’s focus on Transparency and investor confidence, Inclusive energy mix aligned with national development goals and Stakeholder engagement and regulatory efficiency
