President Hakainde Hichilema has appointed Major General
Kalaluka Chivaya as the new Deputy Air Force Commander and Chief of Air Staff,
following the dismissal of Major General Killion Mweemba.
The appointment was made in accordance with Article 91 (1)
and Article 92 (2) of the Constitution of Zambia, which empower the President
to appoint and remove senior military officials. The announcement was issued by
Clayson Hamasaka, Chief Communications Specialist at State House.
Major General Chivaya’s promotion comes in recognition of
his distinguished service and professionalism within the Zambia Air Force (ZAF).
President Hichilema expressed confidence in Chivaya’s ability to support the
Commander of the Air Force and contribute to the continued modernization and
operational excellence of ZAF.
“The President has congratulated Major General Chivaya on
his well-deserved appointment and urged him to continue upholding the values of
professionalism and integrity,” the statement read.
To strengthen leadership within Zambia’s defence forces and ensure alignment with national security and development goals.
