Zambian Breweries has welcomed the government’s renewed
commitment to growth-oriented industrial policies and fair taxation, following
a high-level engagement between President Hakainde Hichilema and the Zambia
Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) at State House.
This dialogue follows Zambian Breweries’ recent $80 million
plant expansion, which was commissioned by President Hichilema and hailed as a
model for inclusive growth and value addition
At the meeting President Hichilema emphasized that reasonable
taxation fosters economic expansion, benefiting businesses, farmers, and the
national treasury.
He specifically acknowledged Zambian Breweries’ role in
advancing the government’s broader economic agenda.
“I am not an advocate of high taxes. I am an advocate of
growth,” the President said. “Addressing business challenges helps create
opportunities for all Zambians.”
Representing Zambian Breweries were Country Director Thais
Cavinatto and Board Chairperson Monica Musonda, who praised the dialogue as a
strong signal of public-private partnership and policy certainty.
Ms Cavinatto noted that a conducive business environment
enables the company to expand production, support local supply chains, and deliver
greater value to consumers and the economy.
Ms Musonda added that the engagement boosts investor
confidence and aligns with Zambia’s industrialisation agenda.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to regulatory compliance, accurate reporting, and fiscal discipline, recognizing the importance of excise and tax contributions to the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) and national development.
