The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced the
departure of Chipolopolo head coach Avram Grant, following a mutual
agreement to part ways.
FAZ General Secretary Machacha Shepande confirmed the
development, stating that the decision was made to enable the association to
pursue a new strategic direction for the Zambia Men’s National
Football Team.
“The two parties agreed to part ways amicably, and FAZ wishes Mr Grant the
best of luck in his future endeavours,” Shepande said.
Grant, who was appointed on 22 December 2022 on a two-year
contract, led Zambia to back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)
qualifications—for the 2024 tournament and the
upcoming Morocco 2025 edition.
FAZ expressed gratitude for Grant’s contributions, noting that further details surrounding the separation will be communicated in due course.
Zambia is set to compete in Group A of the Morocco 2025 AFCON, alongside hosts Morocco, Mali, and Comoros.
